Smallmouth Bass Far Cry 5 Fishing Location Tips And Uses

Fishing in Far Cry 5 offers players a serene break from the intense action across Hope County. Tracking down specific fish species like the Smallmouth Bass is essential for players who want to complete quest objectives and earn in-game rewards. Understanding where to find this elusive fish and how to land it efficiently ensures a smooth gaming experience.

Where to Find Smallmouth Bass in Hope County

Smallmouth Bass are primarily found within the Henbane River region, which is controlled by Faith Seed. Key fishing spots include the stretch of river southeast of the Gethsemane Greenhouse and waters near the Nelson Residence. Players can also locate hard fishing spots along the river situated between two gun stores.

Spotting these areas is easier by searching for blue fish icons marked on the world map. Visiting these dedicated locations guarantees higher spawn rates for trophy-sized catches. Preparing the right gear before traveling to these riverbanks will save considerable time.

Essential Gear and Fishing Tips for Success

To hook a Smallmouth Bass quickly, equipping the proper lure is critical. Unlocking the Fisher King perk allows players to equip the Bass Popper lure, which significantly attracts heavier bass. This perk also tires out fighting fish much faster, making the reeling process far more manageable.

When reeling in a Smallmouth Bass, carefully manage line tension to prevent the fishing line from snapping. Pull the rod in the opposite direction of the moving fish and avoid reeling while tension is high. Utilizing upgraded fishing equipment like the Wonderboy Rod or Old Betsy Rod further enhances control over difficult catches.

In-Game Uses and Reward Benefits

Catching Smallmouth Bass serves multiple practical purposes throughout your adventure in Hope County. Players can sell their harvested fish to local general store vendors for quick in-game cash. Additionally, landing specific fish species counts toward completing in-game challenges that grant perk points.

For completionists, catching a record-weight Smallmouth Bass at a designated hard spot is required to beat regional records. To track your progress against regional benchmarks, you can check the chalkboard located inside the Hope County Jail. Setting the record in Faith's region is an essential step toward earning the prestigious Old Betsy Rod.
