The Grandmaster Ursine set represents the pinnacle of heavy defense in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, making it a favorite for defensive and Quen-focused builds. Introduced in the Blood and Wine expansion, acquiring this top-tier gear requires players to track down hidden diagrams across Toussaint and craft them through a specialized blacksmith. Understanding where to find these diagrams and what materials are necessary will save you significant time and gold during your journey.

Starting the Grandmaster Scavenger Hunt

To begin your quest for the Grandmaster Ursine gear, head to the capital city of Beauclair in Toussaint. Seek out the grandmaster armorer Lazare Lafargue, located northwest of the Mettina Gate. Speaking with him unlocks the scavenger hunt quests for the ultimate witcher gear sets, allowing you to track down all six Bear School diagrams.

Finding the Armor, Silver Sword, and Gauntlets

The first set of diagrams is hidden in the northern part of Flovive at a collapsed, leaning building. Head around the back of the house and clear the blocked cellar entrance using the Aard sign. Step inside the underground tunnel to find a chest containing the diagrams for the silver sword, chest armor, and gauntlets.

Locating the Steel Sword, Trousers, and Boots

To retrieve the remaining pieces, travel to a cave system situated northwest of Flovive near the water stream. Enter the cave and follow the Bear School symbols carved into the stone walls to guide your direction. Defeat the giant centipedes along the path until you reach a witcher skeleton holding the diagrams for the steel sword, trousers, and boots.

Crafting Requirements and Set Bonuses

Once all six diagrams are collected, return to Lazare Lafargue in Beauclair, as he is the only craftsman qualified to make Grandmaster gear. Crafting these items requires existing Mastercrafted Ursine pieces along with rare components like Infused Slyzard Hide and Enriched Dimeritium. Equipping the complete set significantly boosts your defenses and grants powerful passive benefits that automatically cast or empower Quen shields in combat.
